With the All Star weekend this weekend and a collection of the greatest array of Basketball talent in the world converging on LA, I wanted to have a look at the snubbing of Ben Simmons. Statistical his numbers stack up against anyone’s 16.4 points, 7.3 assists, 7.8 rebounds, 1.9 steals with 6 triple doubles and counting are numbers not seen by a rookie since Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson.
His original non selection I feel was not that big of a deal, rookie paying his dues before earning a selection and all that jazz but after three players pulled out and he was overlooked as a replacement on every occasion there seems to be some type of League decision to snub him for being a rookie. Don’t get me wrong Andre Drummond, Goran Dragic and Kemba walker are all having good seasons individually but Simmons has his 76ers in the playoffs at current standings and Kemba Walkers Hornets are lottery bound. All Simmons can keep doing now is knock the door down for next season and his rise to the top will continue, Aussie basketball fans have a lot to look forward to over the next decade.
