State of Origin - Game 3 - Billy Slater goes out a winner!

All the talk before Game 3 was of the Blues dynasty, where were Queensland going to find there next win? The series was heading for its first white wash in years accept no one told the Queenslanders. Queensland started the far better of the two teams and were on the attack for the majority of the first half which ended with them having a landslide of possession close to 70%. Somehow however after an intercept try to Val Holmes early and many other missed chances the Blues were able to fight back with an intercept try of there own to Tommy Turbo and then closed the half with another try to go in to half time up 12-8 in what can only be said as a very lucky scoreline.

The second half NSW came out of the blocks far better then Qld and it looked like the elusive clean sweep was on the cards, however the grit of Queensland and brilliance of Billy Slater, Daly Cherry Evans and Cam Munster was enough to conjure a brilliant try with 20 minutes to go and hold on for a great 6 point win. A lot was said about Slater receiving man of the match and the Wally Lewis medal for man of the series however after the way he performed in games 2 and Games 3 i thought it was deserved with no absolute stand outs from the Blues. Next season promises to be very interesting, Queensland will take confidence from the game 3 win and have some good young players coming though, NSW feel like they have a dynasty coming on however they are definitely getting ahead of themselves, bring on 2019!
