Anqelique Kerber has been consistently unlucky during the whole 2017 season by not winning a single title and not even reaching a quarterfinals of any grand slam event. Last year, Kerber won two grand slam titles in Australia and the US Open, reached the finals in Wimbledon and closed the year with a No. 1 ranking.
In her recent grand slam event in US Open first round, she was defeated by an 18 year-old teenager Naomi Osaka. 6-3 -6-1. This is her second first round lose in a grand slam event this 2017 season (French Open was the first). Due to her recent loss as a defending champion, Kerber's ranking will drop from No. 6 to an estimated No. 14 after the tournament.
Surely, 2017 was not a good and lucky season for Kerber. What do you think was wrong with her this season?
