It's Not Always About the Team Or Games

My husband is spending this glorious rainy day (yes, sarcasm) at a local golf club with his employer. This is an annual event for employees. Which I am fine with not attending, as it gives me some alone time, and since it's raining, a day to spend indoors a lot.
So I grabbed my Kindle to read and just as I started getting into a new ebook download, he texted me.

He said, "They even have a marching band here"

*have pity upon these high school kids playing their instruments in the rain

Which got me thinking... the only time I really see or hear a marching band is during college football season. I'm not a descendant of or a band geek from high school; heck my only experience with a musical instrument in a band class was for three days while in fourth grade and I attempted to play the clarinet. It wasn't for me, so I dropped out on day four.

We are HUGE college football fans and will listen to or watch any and all games we can when we have the time on Saturday afternoons from August until the Championship Game in January (NOTE: 34 days until college football officially kicks off the 2017-2018 season)

But I have to admit I do enjoy listening to the college bands play from the stands when their team scores. It's just different and those kids play their hearts out!

So, I am giving ALL marching bands, jazz bands and bands of every genre in junior high, high school and college a 'hats off' salute! Job well done!
