English Premier League 2017 / 2018

Hello All,

Looking to create a discussion about the new Premier League season which will kick off in August. Who do you think will win and why? Who might move clubs? Who do you want your favourite team to buy?

Personally, I am an Arsenal fan and I am eager to see some incoming transfers and clear out some of the mid range players. I would love to see someone like Ross Barkley come in from Everton and Lacazette from Lyon. Arsenal need to spend on some defence also. Guys like Francis Coquelin I think don't stack up in terms of statistics, he needs to go. Mertesacker will likely retire, so he needs to be replaced.

While I don't expect Arsenal to win the league, I think they will move up the standings into second. They also will win the Europa League.

I expect to see Manchester City improve dramatically. They have a great squad and the young, expensive signings they have made so far, will really boost their chances. Second season Pep Guardiola will be winning in my opinion.

Tottenham to finish in third above Chelsea in a very close battle.

Predictions:

Title winners - Manchester City

Runners Up - Arsenal

Surprise packet - Brighton

One thing I would like to see if the English teams perform much better in the Champions League. Something which Arsenal have not managed to do in the past. It is great to see Liverpool back in the tournament! I think they can make a solid run, if they can manage to keep hold of Coutinho and add to the squad.

Brighton, look out the rest of the competition. I think these guys can finish top 10. Not an easy place to go and play, while they should be spending up big to compile a squad which can stay up. Big things ahead!

If there was a team I choose to have a disappointing season.... I would say Everton. I think they will lose Lukaku and Barkley, which will be huge. It will be very hard to replace these two...

Keep the discussion going. Plenty of time until the season kicks off!

Fellow arsenal fan. Can't share your assessment of the club entirely. We have one of the deepest squads, but experience massive breakdowns when key players are absent. If Sanchez and Ozil stay with the club, things are looking perfect in the attack: Walcott, Sanchez, Ozil, Welbeck and Giroud to draw on and vary as needed.

Our midfield, normally an arsenal strength, is not really balanced, it seems like we haven't sorted it out due to injuries. And Xhaka, well, maybe not a bust, but this next season he will have to show that he has changed his mentality and cease his yellow card/red card outbursts. Finally, an experienced centre back would be a nice addition to sort out depth problems there.

I won't make a prediction about the title other than that arsenal will not win it. Top 4 predict in no order: Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, Tottenham.

I just have a feeling chelsea will win the title again.

yeah, not really sure that Arsenal have a deep squad. Once the top like players are out, the break downs occur because the players coming in are not up to scratch. For me there are a few players who statistically play when the team plays awful. Man City and Chelsea have greater depth, players can fill in and the team can still achieve great results.

The change in formation late in the season was a major reason for Arsenal's dramatic improvement in form.

the thing is, as we have seen we have become accustom to failure and glorifying it ... its always the same and to top it off this time, spurs are in the champions league ...

sad but true ...
