"Boxing is poetry, it has the creativity, the lightness of the dance with the concreteness, the emotion, the passion, the reality of a conflict.
This intensity of meanings makes it something special and absolute (as it was part of the "Fine Arts"), for me it is something even more important, deep and involving, because boxing is the pure show, that doesn't cares about every kind of artistic language.
All other disciplines (theater, music, literature ...) are representation, play, evocation. Boxe is all this, but it also has something fundamental: reality with its pains, its agonies, its blood, its unpredictability, its cruelty ".
Certainly all sports in their essence (the competition), tend to boxing, but are approached only because they lack the dramatic reality of combat.
Boxing is not simply a sport, it is an original and concrete representation. The image of a world within which there is not only the body, the blood, the flesh, but also the intellect, the spirit.
"A boxer like a dancer". But dance centers up to a certain point.
In boxing there are fists to complicate the movement of the legs, there is strategy and strength, speed, intelligence, the most absolute concentration. The fists are bad, slow down the movement, weight the supports, they end up on the ground. They cause loss, internal fractures, sores.
They lead us to the only meditation that matters: the one about death, which sometimes happens really on a ring.
