Who Is The Greatest Basketball Player Of All Time ?

It's not easy to determine who the greatest basketball player of all time is. But, I am going to give it a shot

I had not even started contemplating all the possible candidates, and yet, the task is already towering over me like Megatron standing in front of Sam Witwicky.

The easiest way of dealing with such impossible tasks is to put them off indefinitely. But, i owe it to our audience to cross the finish line with this one. I could just go by points scored and make this list a lot easier. But, that's not what the definition of “greatest” is. So, i am not doing that.

No matter who i pick, there will be some people who aren't going to be happy. I apologise to them in advance. It's a tough job and i am doing my best.

I has listed out some of the probables here. One of them is who i believe is the greatest basketball player of all time. The list is not in any order. So, if you want to know who i had picked, you'll have to read through all of them unfortunately. Yeah, scrolling till the end isn't going to help you here…

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

If i was simply going on the basis of points scored, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar would easily be the greatest basketball player of all time. With 38,387 points and 17,440 rebounds, no one else has a whisker of a chance.

But, basketball is about more than just scoring points. Could we call him the greatest Center the game has ever seen? Perhaps? But, the greatest of all time. No.

Larry Bird

I imagine Bird would have been able to score much more than 21,791 points if his career wasn't shortened by injury. Tragic.

But, he is credited with saving the NBA from dying due to lack of support for the sport. It's a tremendous achievement but not enough to brandish him the title of greatest of all time.

Earvin 'Magic' Johnson

When Magic is your middle name it could be mean one of two things. 1. Your first name doesn't roll off the tongue well. 2. You're magical. In this case, both hold true. Magic Johnson is held in pretty high regard in the basketball community not only because of his killer moves, but also everything he's gone through off the court.

How many people do you know who've managed to fight off HIV and make sure they spend most of their time helping poverty-stricken areas develop? Not many we're guessing. Michael Jordan

You read the name and then presumed this is where you'd find out our pick for the greatest player of all time. Not that simple no. Let me say it up front, he's not the greatest of all time. He is certainly one of the most popular players the NBA has ever seen.

He branched out into almost everything. Earned bucketloads of money in his time and is putting every penny to good use with all his humanitarian causes. My personal favourite? Yes! The greatest of all time. No.

LeBron James

It would really suck if i placed LeBron right after 'His Airness' just so we could stick it in his face that LeBron is the greatest player the game has ever seen.

But, don't let the fantastic on court plays fool you.LeBron is perhaps the most technically and genetically gifted player to ever step on court, but the greatest of all time he is not

Kobe Bryant

Perhaps the most controversial choice on the list… You can't get past the fact that Kobe Bryant was a force to be reckoned with at shooting guard. With the great Shaquille O'Neal at his side, the LA Lakers were unstoppable.

If Kobe & Shaq were one person, they would easily be the greatest basketball player of all time. But, this list is not about the best duo in basketball. It's about the greatest of all time. And no, it's not Kobe.

Wilt Chamberlain

The man has scored 100 points in a single game of basketball. If you put the MensXP team at the free throw line and asked them to score a 100 points it would probably take a week for me to accomplish the feat.

But, Wilt is not competing against us for the greatest of all time. He has some major competition from the other guys in the list. Yes, he was a fantastic player but he is not the best the game has ever seen.
