Barcelona is no doubt one of the best teams in the world and the defending champions of La Liga. Therefore, it would come as no surprise to see them at the very top of the league. However, there is still time for that to change. Atletico Madrid is breathing down their necks and any slip in play would very well result in the gap closing down to 2 points. Barcelona managed to accumulate 46 points from their first 20 matches in the league. They would be confident in their ability to defeat Girona in their bid to maintain the gap they have over their rivals.
Another thing which would surely be in the spotlight is the form of both teams. Girona has an awkward run in their last six games. They have not won a single game in their last six. However, the irony is that they have lost only one! They have drawn five of those games and it would have been a perfect six if they had not lost to Real Betis last week. There is no doubt Girona would have to step up their game in order to cope with the pressure of Barcelona.
Barcelona, on the other hand, has had a more superior outing than Girona. They have won four games out of their last six. The other matches have ended in losses. They would no doubt be looking to overcome the damage which their last loss to Sevilla would have inflicted on them. It would be interesting to see how they would pick themselves up when they meet Girona in the league this weekend.
Girona would no doubt be looking to pull an upset on the day as that is the only way in which they can cement their status in the league.
