Cristiano Ronaldo said he was satisfied to win and score again on Spanish soil following Manchester United's 2-0 win at Villarreal on Wednesday (11/24/2021) early morning WIB which sent them through to the knockout phase of the Champions League.
Ronaldo also became the first player to score in the opening 5 matches of the Red Devils Champions League in the 2021/22 season.
In United's first game after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was temporarily replaced by Michael Carrick, Ronaldo broke the deadlock 12 minutes before the second half's normal time ran out.
He got his name on the scoreboard and it was his 799th career goal before team-mate Jadon Sancho doubled United's lead.
The result made MU topped the Group F standings with 10 points or 3 points above Villarreal who finished second.
The victory then became memorable for Ronaldo where United previously only won 2 of their last 8 matches.
Through his social media, the Portugal captain expressed his happiness in pocketing 3 points and scoring goals in Spain, the country of the club he played for for approximately 8 years (Real Madrid).
"It's always great to play in Spain, amazing to win in Spain, satisfying to score in Spain, a country where I always feel special," the 36-year-old wrote on Instagram, Wednesday (11/24/2021).
He also congratulated his team for qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League this season and was determined to keep fighting hard.
"Congratulations to the players on a big win that put us where we should be!. We are Man United and we will never stop fighting for this club!" wrote Ronaldo.
