The $758,000 Question...Why Are 1990 Fleer Jose Uribe Cards Selling for So Much?

in sports •  7 years ago  (edited)

Golden greetings and silver salutations. I loved collecting baseball cards. Every cent I had when I was a kid went to cards, mostly baseball (though I collected football, basketball, and hockey as well). Then something happened. The cards became MASSIVELY overproduced. Then the number of cards sets grew, the prices went up, # of cards per pack went down, inserts became more important then the cards. Then a very sad thing happened. The card market died.

Recently a silly E-Bay listing made an absolutely common card valuable. Let's just take it in:

As far as I can tell, there is nothing rare about this card. Now there are a ridiculous amount of these cards for sale. Frankly, I do not even know if this is the original listing, but this same seller has a 2nd one listed at the same price. Though one listing has "free shipping", what a bargain!

The sad part of this story is that PEOPLE ARE BUYING THEM!!! Not at this outrageous price, but LOTS of them have gone for $20 + all the way up to a $100. THIS CARD IS WORTH A NICKEL!!!

I don't get it, please explain this to me!!! Until next time, keep stacking and supporting #SteemSilverGold, #SteemUSA, and #TheAlliance!

What is the story behind this offer? It is not possible that someone considers paying almost a million dollars for something that is not unique or something that not many people are looking for and it is very rare.

I don't think anyone is offering anywhere near this amount of money. They are now typically going for about 5 bucks or so...but the problem is that it isn't worth $5. It is worth maybe a nickel. Someone started posting these outrageous E-Bay listings which created a real life market for this card. It doesn't make any sense.

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

@mikeshuh I am going to have to go through some of my Boxes and see how many of these I can turn into Silver......................
