Wild Can't Afford to Limp into Playoffs

With only a month to go until the playoffs begin, either with or without them, the Minnesota Wild don't have time to dwell on their current 2 game slide.

For a team that hasn't had 2 regulation losses in a row since November and hasn't had 3 in a row all season, things feel a little edgy. Especially as Minnesota go down 1-0 at home to Detroit as I type.

The most important thing right here, is that Minnesota still hold their fate in their own hands. There is nothing worse than scoreboard watching in the hope that others will do you a favour, so the fact that the Wild have points on the board already is a positive.

Bruce Boudreau understands this as much as anyone.

“We have to forget about this one. Well, not forget about it, remember it, and do something about it. We are still in a good spot. It’s not the end of the world right now.”

“Anytime that we lose one or two in a row, teams are gaining all over the place. It’s not a positive.”

The 36-22-7 Minnesota Wild, now have just a 3 point cushion on the chasing Western Conference pack and according to mathematicians around the team, they're going to have to win at least 50% of their remaining games to get in. Something that you'd want to see a playoff team do anyway.

If anyone knows how hard it is to make an impact in the playoffs when you barely limp into your spot, then it's the Minnesota Wild.
