Minnesota Embarrassed on the Road by Arizona and Colorado

in sports •  7 years ago

Oh no. It's March.

In Minnesota, we know what that means. The dreaded March madness that means limping into the playoffs and being bundled out early.

Please no, not again!

It seems like only yesterday when the Wild were absolutely killing it both in New York and at home. They won 5 straight and they were sitting pretty in an outright Central Division playoff spot with a nice gap between themselves and the chasing pack.

But this is the NHL and after losing both games of a back to back in Arizona and then divisional rival and leader of the chasing pack, Colorado, things are once again getting tense in Minnesota.

Things literally could not have gone worse than they did.

After starting things off in Arizona with a 5-3 loss where they dominated early but couldn't put them away, things went from bad to worse in Colorado where they were once again handed a deserved 7-1 beat down at the hands of a fast, physical Avs side who quite simply just wanted it more.

Dubnyk was pulled a month ago against the Avs and he was unceremoniously hooked once again as the team playing in front of him, gave him absolutely no support.

“It was a little deja vu for sure. I don’t know why it happened that way.”

I'm sure Dubnyk does in fact know why it happened, but he's just being polite.

Dumba on the other hand, didn't have his filter in.

“It was embarrassing. This was a brutal game. We know we played like shit tonight.”

The Wild quite simply can't afford to let this March hoodoo engulf them for another year. The rot has to stop and it has to be stopped now.

This is where Boudreau will really earn his money.
