Ricky Rubio is one of ten candidates for the NBA Community Assist Award, which recognizes the strong commitment and positive impact of a player in his community throughout the season. The other nominees are DeMarcus Cousins (New Orleans Pelicans), J.J. Barea (Dallas Mavericks), LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers), Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors), CJ McCollum (Portland Trail Blazers), Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat), Mike Conley (Memphis Grizzlies), Jabari Parker (Milwaukee Bucks) and Kemba Walker (Charlotte Hornets).
The final winner will be chosen from among several NBA executives and fans, who will be able to cast their votes through Twitter and Instagram using the #NBACommunityAssist tag and #thename and the player's lastname, for example #RickyRubio until June 25th.
The Spanish international won the monthly prize in November for supporting and creating awareness and funds for research against lung cancer, a disease that took his mother Tona to 56 years in 2016.
