Oman Extreme Sailing Series Event 2018 ⛵⛵

Oman has come a long way in every field and every sector. This Country has come up from between the Mountains and desert in just less than 50 years, and it is all because of the visionary Sultan His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. He has always strived to showcase the talent of this country at a global level.

Oman Sail was established in 2008, and since then in just less than 10 years it has reached to a level of hosting Global events. It is now considered to be one of the most Iconic location for the Extreme Sailing Series.

The recent Oman Extreme Sailing Series was a 3 days event with 7 teams participating. Though I attended only the last day final event. The whole series was a delight with hundreds of spectators lined up at the shore and the weather was just perfect. It was a nice windy day, and the teams made it a point to give an exciting time to the spectators watching from the shore. All the teams were in high spirits and in a healthy competitive mood.

The sea was a little choppy but the catamarans were able to showcase the excitement. All the team displayed a very high level of integrity and the crowd truly had an amazing day out there on the shores.

The local crowd was excited as the home team Oman Air was participating and they also secured the 3rd place in the Finals. My husband works for Oman Air so for us the whole event was more fun cheering for our very own team.

The 7 Teams participated in the order of the Final results were:

  • Alinghi - Secured 1st Place
  • SAP Extreme Sailing Team - 2nd
  • Oman Air - 3rd
  • Land Rover BAR Academy
  • Red Bull Sailing Team
  • NZ Extreme Sailing Team
  • Team Mexico

Attached to the shore is the Almouj Golf Course.

Hope you all enjoyed the day outing with me at the "Extreme Sailing Series" event.

is Oman ruled by a sultan? i have watched a programme about one interesting country (it seems to me it was Oman), and it was told about the sultan, who is the rшchest man in the world, and who is highly respected and loved by population because he has done a lot of useful things for the country and just raised it from the ash.
Is it about Oman?)

Yes, here it's a Sultan rule, but it's very peaceful and to an extent I find it better than even some of the so called Democratic countries. He is very much loved by the people here and why not, he has brought up this whole country in just less than 50 years and made their global presence in every sector. It's indeed commendable.

I'm glad my guess was right-)
yes, he was praised very much in that programme, and he really did much for the country.

incredible, very beautiful, this is the right place to travel, and will always be fun, @nainaztengra thank you for sharing

Thank you @jhoni

Indeed has come a long way. Back in 2002 I got this opportunity to move to Oman but gave up cos of perceptions. Looks like an opportunity missed.

Oh, Oman is truly a wonderful place to live. It gives you a very peaceful and hassle free life. Even the cost of living is not very high here. Anyways things happen as destined so no point in regrets :-)

So did you go for a swim while you were there?

I really need to go there, every person that went told me it was beautiful.
Great article once again my friend.

Deary, please come and visit Muscat and be our guest. You ans your family are always welcome and we would love to be your hosts :)

if I remember rightly NZ had a team who ended up second to last in the Muscat event which was a bit of a disappointing performance for us

Yes, they were second last; but its all part of the game :-)

Indeed it is maybe they will do better on other rounds

This post reminds me of when I was growing up. We went sailing all the time during the summer months. I really enjoy those times from my youth. Thanks for sparking that memory. It looks like you have sunny and warm weather all the time in Oman! Do you ever wish for rain or cold?

The weather is very good now, but its just one more month and then the summer starts for around 5 months, intense heat. Between November and April its very pleasant and some places go freezing also. Rains are rare here :-( and that's a sad part.

Beautiful pictures. Lovely innovations by your ruler. Enjoy

Nice post to share.
