One-hundred and eight diamonds. One sparkly gem for each year Chicago Cubs baseball fans had to wait for their team to finally win another World Series Championship.

Compared to the ring - really a golden pin - given out the last time the Cubs won in 1908, the 2016 version must look like a diamond mine. Featuring just one single diamond, the 1908 version harkens back to a simpler time.

The new rings feature the words "We Don't Quit" and the traditional "W" that flies over Wrigley Field - home of the Cubs - after each of their victories.

Is it bad that I've never watched a baseball match? You don't see them much in the UK. There's so much money in sport these days that they have to go to excess with stuff like this.

The 1908 ring is so simple I kind of like it! I had not seen the 1908 ring before! Thanks for sharing. What a debacle their championship banner/first home game ceremony was! Took entirely too long - I thought it was never going to end

I ate an entire meal during it and it still wasn't over. Craziness.

Interesting observation, thanks for sharing.
