You're supposed to improve at sports as you get older. However, getting better at tennis when you're 31 years old like Rafael Nadal is a rare and bewildering thing to see.

It is impossible to come to any other conclusion after Nadal's impressive fortnight on the red clay of Roland-Garros, including a 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 victory over Stan Wawrinka.

The exuberant Spaniard was never at danger of losing a set, let alone a match during the entire tournament. His toughest day was during the semifinals against the second best clay-courter in the world, Dominic Thiem. Nadal dominated with an easy 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 win that left Thiem and the French crowd shaking their heads.

In total, Nadal dropped just 35 games during the French Open, easily eclipsing his totals from the first nine(!) French Open titles he took home. His second best total came in 2008 when he dropped 41 games. For comparison's sake, he lost 96 games during his 2011 Championship run.

The grass courts of Wimbledon - and rival Roger Federer - loom ahead of Nadal. Will we see a repeat of this year's Australian Open or can Nadal continue his winning ways?

Just incredible! It's not long ago, everyone was writing off Nadal, but he has just worked his butt off to get back to his best. Like you say, that is incredibly impressive at 31. Although the same goes for Federer, I was sure he was finished 2 years ago.
