Chelsea have dropped an enormous hint on their website regarding Alvaro Morata ‘s squad number at the club next season.
Morata, 24, completed a move from Real Madrid to Stamford Bridge earlier this month despite months of speculation linking the Spain striker with Premier League rivals Manchester United.
It’s understood the Blues agreed an initial fee of £58million for the forward but the Premier League champions are yet to confirm what number their high-profile signing will be wearing for the 2017/18 campaign.
However, on Chelsea’s official website, Morata has been placed in the No.9 slot, between N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard, appearing to confirm that this is where the Spaniard can expect to find himself when the season begins.
Much has been said about the club’s ‘cursed’ No.9 shirt, with the likes of Fernando Torres, Radamel Falcao, Hernan Crespo and Mateja Kezman wearing it in recent seasons – Morata will no doubt be desperate to dispel the myth with a strong start in England.
