Jimmy Anderson. There is no need to introduce who he is. A name with thousands of stories. A lot of memories and records. A two-decade-long career as a Fast bowler. Top Test wicket-taker as a fast bowler.
Jimmy started his International career with England in December of 2002, against Australia. In the following year, he got his first call as an English Test Player against Zimbabwe. He played his 1st Test at Lord's. Who knows that time that 21 years later, he will say goodbye to Test and Cricket at Lord's again.
The records he made in his name are insane! He is the second-most Test-playing cricketer of all time. Just behind Sachin Tendulkar. Although, as a fast bowler, it’s way more hard to make it and we all knew this. He had several 188 caps in his name in the longer format of the game.
Jimmy had a record of collecting 50 wickets each against Top 7 test matches playing nation. 2nd bowler with 100th wickets in the same ground (Lord's), just behind Muralitharan.
His hat trick against Pakistan in ODI makes him the only English bowler to take a hat trick in ODIs. He is the leading 5-wicket-hall taker bowler for England also. 32 5-wicket-hall in his name proves his brilliance. He also has a 3 10-wicket-hall under his name. 704 wickets in Test! Just insane for a fast bowler. How today's cricketers play, I don’t think there will be anyone who can reach this level. Even his teammate, another phenomenal fast-class level legend Stuart Broad gave up.
He is now 41 years old. You can't see a fast bowler over 35 in a Test. But he was on a lifelong path. He played continuously for 21 years and how crazy was that!
Yesterday, he played his last White-Shirt match. Oh Jimmy, what can I say? I just simply to say, Thank you. Thank you for your long service. Thank you for keeping Test Cricket alive. Thank you for those happy moments. Thank you for saving many matches with your willow. And, thank you for everything. Goodbye, Jimmy. We will miss you, James Michael Anderson.
