I don't see a lot of love or material for my beloved Milwaukee Brewers, so I'm rebooting my Brewer blog on Steemit. These guys are going to win the World Series in the next few years, and someone needs to follow them. Yes, yes, the team is in a flyover state, but let's face it : GM Stearns and company are the future of winning baseball. So let's give them some love already.
I missed yesterday's fireworks against the Mets, and then managed to turn it over in time to see Knebel try to blow the game by yielding a home run and then a walk. I don't know, Captain Craig...thinking it is time to return to the days of Jeffress/Hader in those situations.
A real test for this team begins today against the Cardinals. If the Brewers are going to be the real deal and compete, they need to be able to beat teams like the Cards and the Cubs. I don't want them going the way of the Green Packers, wherein you have a mediocre coaching staff/gm that beats up on league average teams, only to get thumped out of the play offs year over year. I can't stand it.
Today's Starters
Looks like we'll see a lot of Brewer lefties today. Weaver looks tough on right handed hitters. I'm guessing we will see some Villar and Sogard today (or not.)
Key Bats
Defense
The Brewers, statistically, are the better defensive team today.
Smart money has moved the line from a STL to MIL favorites. With over/under of 9 runs, and it being very warm/humid in Wisconsin today, the ball might fly. I'm a bit worried about the righties against Weaver, however. The Cardinals are going to roll out there righties against Suter today. Cardinals that I find very scary today include Gyorko, Pham, and Martinez.
Since I'm on a chromebook today, I won't be able to get the common metrics completed. I used to post daily a preview of each MIL game. I think I'll try to reboot that on Steemit. Go crew!
