[Surfer's log] Campus Point, UCSB, California

in sports •  7 years ago  (edited)

Maybe the University of California at Santa Barbara is the only university with it's own surf spot in the US. It's called Campus Point.

It seems the last week it had the best waves of the year. While daredevils with big lungs were challenging 30 footers in Central Cali up North, we had some 6-8 foot waves in Santa Barbara County. See those islands in one of the pictures below? The swells diminish while rolling through the Santa Barbara Channel. But the waves are usually very refined. Campus Point bends the waves into football field long rides!

As usual, Chris ( featured in the first shot) with his board and me, on the shore, with my Canon were there at 6 am. He was having fun while I was just freezing))
