Nepal reached the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier as they registered a 9-wicket victory over Qatar in the match held at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bandi, Malaysia on Monday.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, Nepal restricted Qatar 74-7 in the stipulated 20 overs. Saachi Dhadwal scored 21 runs facing 44 deliveries for Qatar while Opener Aleena Khan managed a 25-ball 15. Nepal’s Indu Barma dismissed both batters. Dhadwal was caught leg-before in 16.3 overs while Khan was dismissed in 7.2 overs.
Qatar captain Aysha contributed 10 runs before being run out by Barma while Angeline Mare put up an unbeaten 14 off 18 deliveries.None of the other batters scored in double digits, with three being sent for a golden duck. For Nepal, opener Kajal Shrestha top-scored at 32 runs off her 28-knock play while another opener Sita Rana Magar managed a 23-ball 17.Barma also put a 12-ball 20 on the scoreboard helping Nepal overcome the 75-run target with 57 balls to spare.
