The Chicago Cubs rallied in the 9th inning and beat the Milwaukee Brewer 5-3 in the 10th inning!
What an electric night in Milwaukee as the Brewers hoped to gain ground on the first place Cubs. It was a great pitchers duel between Cubs starter Jake Arrieta and Brewers starter Zach Davies. The Brewers had a 3-2 lead going into the 9th inning and the fans were going crazy.
The 9th inning started off in controversy as Ian Happ was called safe at first base after the Brewers pitcher covered first base and appeared to touch the base a split second before Happ. But after a review of the footage, Happ was called safe in a head scratcher. Happ then advanced to second base on a ground ball. The suspense was building as Javier Baez came to the plate with 2 outs. Everyone was on their feet screaming when Baez singled up the middle and tied the game.
After an uneventful bottom half of the 9th, the game went into extra innings. Reigning MVP, Kris Bryant stepped to the plate with a runner on base and hit a 2 run bomb! The Brewers team and fans had the look of death on their face. The Cubs were up 5-3 and brought in their All Star closer, Wade Davis. Davis struck out the side and the Cubs rejoiced as their division lead grew to 4.5 games.
The two teams are back at Miller Stadium tonight in a MUST WIN scenario for the Brewers. Cheers!
