Will the NFL Protests Continue on Thursday Night?

in sports •  7 years ago

The NFL will resume play on Thursday night as the Chicago Bears travel north to face their division rival, the Green Bay Packers. With all of the controversy in the NFL this past weekend, what can we expect on Thursday night?

The game will be played on cable tv on the NFL Network. There are rumors of Packer quarterback Aaron Rodgers wanting to do a show of unity. But what will that mean? The Bears were in the middle of their own media storm as their opponent last week, the Pittsburgh Steelers, refused to come on the field for the National Anthem, with the exception of one player.
Is Thursday night going to be another circus, or will we just get back to football? Let me know what you think, but I am leaning towards clowns. Cheers!

The Pittsburgh Steelers are really taking heat here in Pittsburgh (which is amazing because prior to this incident, they could never do any wrong in our eyes). Roethlisberger came out an now regrets his decision to say in the locker room, but that is too little too late. Local stores are being boycotted, talk radio is still dominated by this issue, and the tide is turning against the players for kneeling.

That said, there will still be idiots who take the knee. I do not think we are going to see this mass display of solidarity (I prefer to think of it as mass-disrespect) of the National Anthem like we did this weekend, but there will still be those who persist.

will likely last all season, part funded by soros

Amen about Soros

@scottybuckets Thanks for giving this circus performance a name.

I wrote a post today about the NFL and work ethics in the real world. Here's a link:

I'd love to know what you think!

Peace.

Will read it now!

im not taking sides, all i know is this is bad for the league, already heard a bunch of old codgers at breakfest today talking how they wouldnt watch anymore

NFL was established along with other sports to distract the population from real issues and concerns of the nation. I have not watched sports since I left the NHL in 1994

@jetblake Quite the observation...and a huge move away from all sports!

I have to admit I love to watch a good baseball game, or tennis match, or golf.

But, to not watch sports at all is quite the 'feat'.

Peace!
