Arteta's tactical trick that helped Manchester City finish Arsenal with a second goal

in sports •  6 years ago

On Sunday we witnessed an away win for last's year Premier League champions against Arsenal, with a 0-2 victory.

When Bernardo Silva scored the second goal for Manchester City, Pep Guardiola turned to Mikel Arteta and hugged him.
This suggested that Arteta has played a major role in City's second goal, after Bernardo Silva came into the picture for City.

Arteta was an Arsenal player for many years but is now a member of Pep's Guardiola staff.
It turns out that Arteta has told Mendy to make a short cross instead of a high cross.
That happened and Silva capitalized on it, leading City to a big win.

During the summer, there was speculation wanting Arteta to become the new Arsenal's manager. It turns out that didn't happen and Arsenal appointed Unai Emery instead.

Arteta's influence on City team can never be over emphasized, its a pity Arsenalfc couldn't take the bull by the horn and employ Arteta ( a rookie so to say) before settling for Emery.

I believe Emery was a better all around choise though.
