Well the time is nearly here for my favorite sporting event of the year. I find this year's Super Bowl to be a really strange one because I don't think that anyone would have predicted that these would be the 2 teams in the final 6 weeks ago. Their records do not look like the 2 best teams in the NFL with one of them, the Chiefs, having 6 losses on their record. While I am sure this has happened before the Niners also have 5 losses on the season, some of these losses on both sides were blowouts too.
Maybe I just have poor memory but this is the first Super Bowl that I can think of where it appears as though the best teams aren't actually in the "Big dance" at the end. I guess this is what happens in a playoff system and part of what makes it so much fun.

I don't consider Yahoo to be very useful in a general sense but as far as easily finding betting odds are concerned, they are pretty good at that with minimal nonsense popping up on the screen. If you want to bet you click on the easily found buttons, they aren't trying to force you into anything like a lot of other gambling sites do. They don't even have ANY pop ups at all.
Anyway, lets dive into the numbers here:
On a straight bet the 49'ers are a -130 favorite and this means that you have to bet $130 in order to win $100 on a bet. This is on a "straight" bet meaning that you are simply picking who will win by ANY number of points
In this particular game the point spread is really low at -2 in favor of San Francisco meaning that if you want to bet $100 to win $100 or $5 to win $5 then you need to bet on San Fran either winning by more than 2 points or if you go in the opposite direction you are betting on them winning by 2 or less or losing. If you bet on San Francisco to win and they only win by 1 or 2 points, you still lose. Got it?
The Over/Under is set at 47.5 points and what this means is that if you are betting on this it is for the total number of points scored by both teams combined. I find this is a fun one to bet on if you don't really care who wins because then you can be excited every time anyone scores. This number is almost always with a half point so that nobody out there ends up with the 00 or 0 on the roulette wheel. Everyone always either wins or loses with this one. Me? I would take the over because I believe there are going to be a ton of TD's in this game.
I see that a lot of people, nearly 80% are betting on Kansas City on both the straight bet and the spread. I think this is a mistake because I believe that San Francisco is a significantly better team. I am going to bet on them. Not a huge amount of money but some. You need to keep in mind that my predictions in both football and MMA have been wrong just as often as they were correct in relation to almost everything other than the Carolina Panthers who sucked so bad that betting against them was a "sure thing" in every game except one in the entire season.
