I have long been considered borderline misogynistic in my stance towards the WNBA because I find it to be dreadfully boring. This is compounded by the constant whining that comes from the players about how they aren't paid "enough" even though most of the teams in the WNBA are basically charities for them to receive any salary at all. The league loses money most years and have to be supplemented by the NBA.
Yet any time someone does something even remotely basketball-ish in the sport, the media feels compelled by social-justice standards to absolutely GUSH over what is really nothing special.

I want you to understand for a minute here that Brittney Griner is 6 foot 9 and the hoop is 10 feet off the ground.
I want you to stand up for a second and see that your arms reach nearly halfway down your body and physiologically speaking a normal person's "wingspan" is equal to their height. So doing some quick math here we can see that Brittney, with an arm fully extended, is nearly tall enough to touch the rim without even jumping at all yet we are supposed to celebrate that she managed to get a vertical leap of 6 inches or so? She jumps for a living!
This "dunk" can barely be considered a dunk and when you see the above picture you can tell that she only just cleared the rim at all.

Next time you are outside try and have a jump, and see if you can manage to get a foot off the ground. I bet you can unless you are obese or something. Hell, even then you can probably do a foot vertical although you might shatter your knees and ankles when you hit the ground.
I realize that it is noteworthy anytime that anyone in the WNBA dunks because it is so rare but we are talking about someone nearly 7 feet tall here: Being able to reach something on the high shelf isn't exactly a miracle, yet the media is all over it as if it was some sort of act of God that it happened. A very large portion of my sports news feed is dedicated to this "amazing occurrence" in basketball and I'm just over here like "well, she's 7 feet tall, she better be able to dunk."
I can't help but feel as though the news outlets are compelled to report on this, otherwise they will be attacked by the SJW Twitter mob for not giving equal time in their news, even though we all know that the WNBA is nothing like the NBA as far as excitement is concerned.
For me, I would rather watch nearly anything else other than WNBA games on TV. Even if a mutant-like tall woman manages to jump 5-6 inches off the ground when she drives to the hoop.
