Hi, Steemers!
If you can win in Finland, you can win anywhere. That's what legend says. And it's true. As a quickest event of World Rally Championship calendar, it clearly shows capability of current drivers in WRC cars of a new generation. We are talking about 2017 spec cars.
In your comments of my posts there's usual question: what kind of engine do they have?
FIA rules say: WRC cars must have 1.6 turbo engine, 420bhp (maybe more) and four wheel drive.
Not only WRC cars, also F1 and WTCC cars have 1.6 turbo engine (F1 with six cylinders and WRC/WTCC with four cylinders block).
Now back to the title of my post, new sensation of WRC - Finn Esapekka Lappi (as a Toyota works driver).
He's very quick for sure. But nobody knew how quick. And in Finland he show us clearly that he can win.
On RedBullTV's show two times World Rally Champion Gronholm said: 'It wasn't possible to come to the WRC level and be quick from the 'box'. That's probably these new guys are practicing on PlayStation.'
If ex-WRC champ says something like that, we can be sure that it could be true for sure.
Lappi started his professional career as a Škoda driver who won European Rally Championship and WRC2 title. So he has very good experience now. But now it's a question: how far can he go? Can he win on tarmac?
Because to win a world title, you must be complete driver. Why? It's easy answer: you must beat four times World Rally Champ Ogier who is probably the most complete driver at the moment in WRC (Neuville has the best car; that's why he's leading championship).
Let the best win!
