We are mere four weeks before the NBA All-Star weekend in Charlotte. So far, the All-Star voting returns have shown very surprising results with rookie sensation Luka Doncic and a rejuvenated Derrick Rose cracking the Western Conference All-Stars.
Other than that it’s pretty still LeBron, Steph Curry and Kyrie Irving who top the poll. Giannis Antetokounmpo has made a big stride this year as he becomes a legitimate MVP favorite. Oh before I forgot, the Greek Freak is poised to become the captain of his own team as it seems he’s gonna end up the top vote-getter in the East.
What I’m excited about is the first-time NBA All-Stars. Who will be this year’s greenhorns at the NBA’s midseason classic? Right now, there are several candidates and I want to know who’s your pick.
Eastern Conference
Brooklyn Nets’ D’Angelo Russell (18.7 ppg on 43FG% and 6.3 apg)
Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum (16.6 ppg on 45FG% and 6.3 rpg)
Philadelphia 76ers’ Ben Simmons (16.7 ppg, 9.5 rpg and 8.2 apg)
Milwaukee Bucks’ Khris Middleton (17.7 ppg, 5.8 rpg and 4.1 apg)
Toronto Raptors’ Serge Ibaka (15.9 ppg on 53.1 FG% and 7.2 rpg)
Toronto Raptors’ Pascal Siakam (15.2 ppg on 57.2 FG% and 6.9 rpg)
Western Conference
Los Angeles Clippers’ Tobias Harris (20.8 ppg on 50.4 FG% and 8.0 rpg)
Utah Jazz’ Donovan Mitchell (21.5 ppg, 3.7 rpg and 3.6 apg)
Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic (19.7 ppg on 50.6 FG%, 10.1 rpg and 7.5 apg)
Denver Nuggets’ Jamaal Murray (18.5 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 4.9 apg)
Portland Trail Blazers’ CJ McCullum (20.7 ppg on 45 FG%)
Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic (20.2 ppg, 6.7 rpg and 5.0 apg)
Yeah, it’s a tough list to choose from but some of the guys there are really deserving to be in Charlotte. My personal picks are Doncic, Jokic, Harris and Simmons. I believe those four are locks. As for Russell, Mitchell, Siakam and Ibaka, I do think their teams should place higher in the standings in order to get the nod. The Raptors must finish first in the East to get another All-Star slot aside from Kawhi and Kyle Lowry. If the Bucks finish atop, then Middleton gets the slot.
