Did Damian Maia's Split Decision Win Secure a Future Welterweight Title Shot?

Dana said "Yes" cage side, and Joe repeated it on the mic in the post fight interview... not like Dana hasn't backed out on something he's said before.. but yeah, I think he'll finally get his title shot after last night. (@giftedgaia)

2017 Dana under new WME-IMG ownership seems to be the year of broken promises :) We will see. I really think this is the bout that makes sense, and honestly the biggest threat stylistically to Woodley. Woodley has dangerous power and great wrestling, but if Maia can nullify that with his jits.. he may take that belt.

Wish Maia would have gotten his chance against lawler which I think he might have won, Maia is such a nice guy would be nice to see him lift that belt before his career is over, woodley is such a powerhouse, I have hard to see Maia take that one but who knows :)
