  To increase the number of pull-ups you will need to activate your back by doing some back warm up exercises. Back muscles can also be activated by hanging actively.

Active Hang will activate your lats and traps. Another way to activate your back is to push your elbows downwards as much as you can. For pulling yourself up you need to push elbows downwards which will activate your back and in return your body will be pulled towards the bar. A mistake that you should avoid is the flow of your movement, never leave your body freely when you reach the top position instead try to remain in control of your body until you reach the starting postition.
