Football transfers nowadays involves mega millions in the process. To acquire a player you need to spend big time! Without further ado we will start the countdown.

Number 10 - James Rodriguez(Monaco to Real Madrid) 2014

Transfer Value: $95 million
Current Club: Bayern Munich on loan from Real Madrid
Position: Attacking Midfielder
After having a sensational performance at the 2014 World Cup playing for Colombia, James Rodriguez signed for Real Madrid for $95 million. He had an up and down career at Real Madrid never really displaying the potential under Manager Zinedine Zidane. He is now loaned out to Bayern Munich looking to revitalize his career.

Number 9 - Luis Suarez (Liverpool to Barcelona) 2014

Transfer Value: $98 million
Current Club: Barcelona
Position: Striker / Centre Forward
After having a magnificent season at Liverpool which nearly gifted his team its first Premier League in so many years. Barcelona came calling for Luis Suarez who would turn down the chance to play with the likes of Messi, and Neymar? The transfer came through and they formed the deadly MSN(Messi, Suarez, Neymar) at Barcelona. Having scored 121 Goals already at Barcelona the transfer was well worth it.

Number 8 - Romelu Lukaku(Everton to Manchester United) 2017

Transfer Value: $101 million
Current Club: Manchester United
Position: Striker / Centre Forward
A recent transfer Romelu Lukaku is one of the best strikers at the moment having scored 71 Goals at Everton. He has indicated his desire to play in the Champions League that paved the way for a transfer. At first Chelsea was the rumored destination, but out of nowhere Manchester United snapped him up quickly. Lukaku is having a fine start at Manchester United having scored 4 Goals in 4 Appearances.

Number 7 - Neymar (Santos to Barcelona) 2013

Transfer Value: $102.8 million
Current Club: PSG(Paris Saint-Germain)
Position: Left Wing / Centre Forward
Regarded as a wonder kid Neymar was one of the sought out players in 2013. Having scored 53 goals at Santos, Barcelona came in and landed Neymar. With a magnificent career at Barcelona he scored 103 goals before moving recently to France in a move to PSG.

Number 6 - Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli to Juventus) 2016

Transfer Value: $107.3 million

Position: Centre Forward
Regarded as one of the best strikers today, Gonzalo Higuain first played for Real Madrid before moving to Napoli. In Napoli he scored a total of 89 Goals before transferring to Italian rivals Juventus. Higuain then netted 33 Goals in his first season, leading Juventus to win the Italian League.

Number 5 - Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United to Real Madrid) 2009

Transfer Value: $112.1 million
Current Club: Real Madrid
Position: Striker / Left Wing
Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the reasons why I got in to football. Having watched him play at Manchester United alongside Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov, and the glorious passing of Paul Scholes. Manchester United were a force not to be reckoned with at the time. Ronaldo scored 117 Goals for Manchester United and winning a Ballon d'Or in the process. Real Madrid then came knocking and wanted the prized player. Ronaldo then left Manchester United because it was his dream to play for Real Madrid. He then went on to score a staggering 394 Goals in his career at Real Madrid winning Ballon d'Or once again multiple times.

Number 4 - Gareth Bale (Tottenham to Real Madrid) 2013

Transfer Value: $120.1 million
Current Club: Real Madrid
Position: Right Wing
Gareth Bale had a magnificent season at Tottenham, showing his skills to the world when they played in the Champions League. After that magnificent season many teams came calling for the services of Bale. Real Madrid was the eventually the winner. Bale has so far scored a total of 68 Goals so far in his career in Madrid and has won many silverware in the process.

Number 3 - Paul Pogba (Juventus to Manchester United) 2016

Transfer Value: $125 million
Current Club: Manchester Untied
Position: Central Midfield
Paul Pogba after leaving Manchester United for free was snapped up by Juventus where he began to show his true potential. Paul Pogba was sought after by the biggest club because of his incredible season at Juventus. Manchester United came and landed the Central Midfielder. In his first season back to the English Premier League life was not as easy he had difficulties on living up to the expectations of his big money transfer, but went on to win the League Cup, and the UEFA Cup. Things are now looking good for Pogba as Manchester United are looking red hot, with a couple of goals himself in the bag.

Number 2 - Ousmane Dembele (Borrusia Dortmund to Barcelona) 2017

Transfer Value: $178.6 million
Current Club: Manchester Untied
Position: Left Wing
Seen as the player to replace Neymar at Barcelona, at only 20 years old with a huge potential he will be filling the spot of Neymar which just recently moved to PSG. I have never really seen him play so I do not know how good he is. Barcelona splashing that kind of money means he is a quality player.

Number 1 - Neymar (Barcelona to PSG) 2017

Transfer Value: $264.5 million
Current Club: PSG
Position: Left Wing / Centre Forward
Regarded as one to rival the likes of Ballon d'Or winners Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo. With rumors he does not want to play anymore as a shadow of Lionel Messi, Neymar transferred to PSG just recently and broke all the transfer records there is. Neymar is quite the talent as he appears in the Top 10 Most Expensive Transfers in Football. At Barcelona he scored a total of 103 goals his credentials are all great, so PSG has a great superstar within their ranks.

Thank you for reading through the top ten hope you learned something new, having the outrageous transfer fees for football players. May I say the wages are a different matter itself so the kind of money that is being pumped to the beautiful game is outrageous.

Perhaps, you can write for @steemsports. @prophet0 is in charge. Glad to see you talking football. Ph turned me bball. But i know football like the back of my hand

I'd love to do some writing for the page. I can write about football and boxing with great experience as I currently write articles for Ringnews24.com I would love to hear back!

I think you should contact them, want to see you write for @steemsports. Cheers!

Thanks @surpassinggoogle, I wish I could but need a lot more practice haha. I am following @steemsports it is now where I find sports news, Me too I play basketball once in a while but when I watched football I think it is much better than Basketball for me. So what Football team do you support?

It is better no doubt. The feelings erupted and fire is stronger. FCB

Absolutely right. Nice, Madrid is strong at the moment hopefully Dembele can create a spark. Haha I do not like your team. Defeated my team Manchester United 08-09, 10-11 Champions League Final it is still carved in my mind. Maybe this year hopefully our teams face each other in the final.

Man u is FCB's wifey. Madrid is strong. Yes dembele but looks like they got coutinho too. I didn't like neymar leaving. Our currently problem was alves leaving and no solid midfielder in the form of iniesta and iniesta is aging. Madrid is really strong currently. Man u i will support them in PL this season, cos i started to feel pity for mourinho at chelsea and i like ibra. Current squad of man u has a chance. I think chelsea got really weak losing matic, costa etc. Liverpool can be threat now, if coutinho has left. Totenham still need seasons to mature and Man city, can do it with their squad. Solid team currently, should be man u in epl and mourinho has the swag, fire and character required. Those are real men! Then ibra second half of season. I saw all those finals and football fans in other places are on fire. When they hug you during football moments, the rib cage cracks. i miss that fire in PH. Even basketball, when you lose, people feel its just a game and drink it away. I left my last team and they lost 7 games in a row

Hahaha lol. Yes Neymar is a big loss, and Alves too. Getting Coutinho will be a boost. With Iniesta and Busquets already aging. I believe the decline started when they did not find a replacement for Xavi. They bought Fabregas but later sold to Chelsea, Rakitic, Andre Gomes, Arda Turan, Rafinha and Dennis Suarez not living up to expectations.

Yes I agree in the PL this season, Mourinho always wins the league in his second season did it with Porto, Chelsea(twice), Inter Milan, and Real Madrid so I can see it happening this year haha. Ibrahimovic is a game changer glad that they signed him again. I think it will be either Manchester City or Manchester United this year, with Liverpool at 3rd. Chelsea lost a key of players but I think Conte can still pull it off. With Tottenham at 5th and Arsenal currently falling off at 6th.

Wow yes I think the passion in football is so much greater than Basketball. I hope to one day experience that when I watch football overseas. Hopefully get to watch Manchester United at Old Trafford.

What Basketball team did you play for? You are the star player I guess they lost 7 in a row without you?

I have some friends who are major fans. will show this to them.

Thanks for sharing it to them :)

Im afraid your top ten will change every year...
There is

Yes I must agree, the transfer fees are getting crazier each year records now being broken every year.

Football is in an absolute state right now!

Yes breaking transfer records every year it is crazy!

Makes you wonder how much players like Ronaldinho, Zidane etc would cost in today's market which would make for an interesting article/post is someone were to pick it up!

Tinha jogadores que nem sabia que eram tao caros, obg por compartilhar conosco, parabens pelo tempo invertido

I could not understand but used google translate. Thank you for the comment, yes I must agree some of the players did not know why they were so expensive.

Hope this is rightly translated:
Não entendi, mas usei o Google translate. Obrigado pelo comentário, sim devo concordar que alguns dos jogadores não sabiam por que eram tão caros.
