When I think of great rim protecters, Mutombo always comes to mind. He was 7"2' and was a force on the defensive end. Dikembe was Defensive player of the year four times and made the NBA All-Star team eight times. He is second in the history of the NBA in block shots (behind NBA great Hakeem Olajuwon)! Mutombo also is second all time in career triple doubles (Points, Rebounds and Blocks)! One of Mutombo's signatures is the "finger wagg", which he done after a successful block against his opponent. Dikembe was also an underrated post scorer as well (averaged a career-high 16 points per game in 1991). After a successful 18 year NBA career, Mutombo was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on September 11, 2015.
