The San Antonio Spurs trade Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors!

Well it seemed that Kawhi Leonard's days in San Antonio were numbered after a season full of confusion. Kawhi's injury was surely an headache for the Spurs and their fans. He only suited up for 9 games this past NBA's 2017-18 season (Kawhi averaged 25.5 points per game in 2016-17) and the Spurs' organization felt like this season was a wash. With that said, the Spurs finally decided to ship Kawhi Leonard out of San Antonio. What team you ask? The Toronto Raptors! That right, Leonard is a Raptor. At least for now. It is rumored that he wants to be in L.A. So hopefully Toronto know this and has a plan B just in case Leonard wants out after the season. The Raptors get Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green. The Spurs get Demar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a 2019 first-round pick! Not bad as Demar is a proven NBA All-Star averaging 19.7 points per game.

There is no doubt that the Spurs didn't want Kawhi in the Western Conference. The Lakers were interested in Kawhi but the Spurs decided to go with the Raptors instead. It is rumored that both Kawhi and Demar are not pleased with the trade. It was alleged that the Raptors' front office told Demar that he wouldn't be traded. Toronto has had a history of their star players leaving to go play for another team. Chris Bosh, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, and Damon Stoudamire have all left Toronto in their career. DeRozan has been the only star that actually wanted to commit to the Raptors long term. But as we all know, it's a business. So sometimes things just don't go the way you would want it to. Nevertheless, the NBA's season has gotten very interesting. Will the Raptors be a contender in the East? Can the Spurs rebound from Kawhi's departure and compete in the West. The season is less then 4 months away. Let the games begin.
