Wing Chun's Famous One Inch Punch

in sports •  7 years ago

The Wing Chun one-inch punch is a powerful tool, giving you the ability to have explosive power from an extremely close range.

In actual use the punch might be a 1-foot to 1-inch punch; it all depends on your range. Make sure you don’t pull your punches back before you throw them. Simply fire straight out from where your hands are positioned. Training the One Inch Punch also prevents you from telegraphing your punch as you are not pulling back, yet firing out from your current point in space to and through your target.

It's a Whole Body Thing

When you under- stand the technique below and apply it with your body and footwork, you will have explosive short-range power.  It's not just your hand it's your whole body moving in a unified motion!

Bruce Lee

Although Bruce Lee did not invent the One Inch Punch he certainly made it famous!

Here Bruce Lee demonstrates his one inch punch in the 70's at an Ed Parker event in California.

Bruce Lee moved like lighting so this is the only way to really see it!

What's to Come

In the near future I plan on covering several topics in regards to Wing Chun from Center Line theory to Footwork. After some foundational material has been discussed I will start posting some video lessons!

I've heard some people say Bruce Lee didn't know how to actually fight, but videos like this as well as the other one on YT(where he's sparring ) it seems his control and speed are admirably. Nothing new in this post, but an interesting read!

"some people say Bruce Lee didn't know how to actually fight" probably the same people who said don't buy btc under 100$
