Welcome my Steemit friends to one of America's most famous baseball parks, the historic Fenway Park in Boston, Mass.
Recently we took a look at the 1923 openning of Yankee Stadium, New York. We examined the history briefly and how Babe Ruth made that part "necessary!"
We followed that up with the unique Shibe Park, later Connie Mack Stadium with its monstrous 515 ft. dimension to center field! That was a 1909 relic, long gone.
Now to Fenway. The Park is one of only two ancient parks in Major League baseball still in use. The other, Chicago's Wrigley Field.

Above see the modern 37,000 capacity park. And the early 1900's photo before lights (1947) and the 37 foot "Green Monster" in left field: that is the legendary tall wall that can rob a batter of home runs.
There is great history in Boston Red Sox baseball. Long is the rivalry with my beloved Yankees!
See the photo of Boston's Ted Williams who I consider the greatest hitter to ever play the game. I will write specifically of Williams in a future post, and why I consider him the best with the bat that ever lived.
It is sad that these legendary parks are gone. For one thing, I always believed as do other "purists" that the original Yankee Stadium that was refurbished in 1973 did not "need" to be torn down for a new park across the street. What a shame.
Thank you for visiting Fenway Park...as always, your upvote appreciated.
