Sports Photography Contest – Cuban “Field of Dreams”

Here are my entries for today´s #sportsphotography contest hosted by @juliank.

As many know, Baseball is a not only part of Cuba’s culture, but the passion and dream of so many. During a trip to Cuba in early November 2016, we had our own “Field of Dreams” moment getting to play baseball with current and former professional Cuban Baseball Players. Most notable was Cuban baseball hero, Carlos Tabares.

@armentor was the leadoff hitter for "Team USA" (old tourists) and went 1 for 2 with a single (they were pitching 70mph meatballs).

      Yes. it was quite shocking, even though they get education and healthcare for free. They are treated like celebs but without the fortune. Cigar makers make more.

      That makes sense given the importance of cigar as their cash cow and prob due to so few specialists. But still for pro players is insane.

        Yes it was. I need to do a blog on the whole trip. We took the whole team back to our villa and had a traditional Cuban BBQ with a band. Watching these guys fill their plates 3, 4, 5 times was quite a experience (and somewhat saddening given the US blockade).
