Traditional Boxing Sports (Mbela)
Not only the natural beauty, Flores Island also offers a wealth of culture that can be enjoyed by tourists. One of them is traditional boxing in Nagekeo County, known as Etu or Mbela.
Etu is part of a series of traditional events conducted by residents from planting to harvesting crops. In this traditional boxing fighter is a messenger from the regions. The goal is to prove the dignity and dignity of men.
When fighting, boxers use coconut coir in one hand to punch the opponent. The fight will be stopped when one falls or bleeds.
In addition to fighter, Etu also presents referees and sike. Sike's job is to control the fighter by holding the sarong part, to keep the attack under control.
