In to the Wild

in sportsphotography •  7 years ago

I've spent a lot of time on mountains riding bikes, I even used to race downhill when I was younger. But I never imagined riding in the snow. On the mountain as fall arrived the bikes would go away and the snowboard would come out.

But clearly that isn't the case for everyone. Seeing this guy powering through, heading up one of the trails in the Kananaskis Valley was a moment where I reflected and thought maybe I need to rethink about riding a bike.

All the power to him.

Thanks for reading.

Nice shot...and I agree that you definitely should rethink riding in the snow. I absolutely love it, and get out on snowy trails every chance I get. There is no better way to improve your bike handling skills.

I almost had an accident while biking
Since then have had this fear for biking

The only way to get over the fear is to get back on a bike. Just stick to the trails and you will pretty safe.

It's harder than it sounds
But ama give it a try👌👍

riding in the snow is the best!

DH rider reporting in, SNOW RIDING IS DOPE!!!! unless its ice!snowbike1.jpg

Oh my good Ferry nice this post.....

Looking good bro, osadharo man

Awsome picture,
Yes,
You need to rethink.

it's kind of a lot of work to ride in the snow even with the big tires, then you are pushing those big tires around, probably better to just take a picture of someone else doing it.

Looking good bro, I wish I can do like what you did

This is worthy of respect @scottdphoto!

Nice picture, mate!

very nice

Very nice post and great photo!

My first thought: "I need to buy a bike"
My second thought : "No money"
My third thought : "Let's go to macdonalds"

Amazing photos BTW, i don't have any snow near my city... the only snow i get is when i open the refrigerator to grab myself some icecream

The experience of riding a bicycle in the snow should be spectacular. beautiful photography.

where is this? man I would love to experience just being on a place like this someday :)

Always wanted to try snowboarding. I've heard it ain't so easy. But it does sound like fun. Great photo, place looks beautiful.

How much harder is it to bike in snow versus ground or concrete ? Does the wheel spin in place sometimes ?

very beautiful scenery

An incredible view!!!

Mountains riding bikes, best sport ever, and if there is snow, much better, congrats excellent post.

Is it real?

Ingredients

4 cups uncooked brown rice (or white if preferred)
2 cups whole milk
2 1/2 cups cooked ham, cubed
3 medium tomatoes, diced
1/4 cup crispy bacon bits (optional)
1/4 freshly chopped chives (optional)
Comeback Sauce:
1 medium onion, diced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium lemon, juiced
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons dijon mustard
1/4 cup chili sauce or sriracha
2 tablespoons worchestershire sauce
4 ounces cream cheese
1 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions

Cook the rice according to the package instructions until just tender, not sticky (you still want it to have a slight bite to it). Drain rice and cool a little while you prep the sauce.
Combine the onion, garlic, and lemon in a food processor or blender and pulse until combined. Add the remaining ingredients for the sauce and blend until smooth. Combine the sauce, tomatoes, milk, and the rice in a large skillet or a shallow pot and stir until combined. Place over medium high heat and stir occasionally for about 20 minutes until it's heated through. Add the ham and reduce heat to low then cover and simmer until all of the milk is absorbed and the rice is hot and thick.

So, I have always wanted to ride in the snow on my trek. Any tips for newcomers?

Great view for biking!!!

I can hardly believe that she looks so easy on her bike on a snowy road. It really needs a lot of energy for it all. @scottdphoto
