As a technology used in football to assist referees in helping make decisions, the presence of VAR (Video Assistant Referees) is still a matter of controversy. But the Premier League is ready to use it next season. Previously several European leagues had used it, including in the European Champions League.
In its usings, the presence of VAR is very helpful for referees in making decisions, but controversies also occur. By using VAR in the Premier League, they must also be prepared for the controversies that will occur.
According to Premier League Executive President Richard Masters, who was quoted by BBC Sport as saying that they have spent two years at this point, and they are very committed to doing so for the past two years. And they are ready with the controversies that occur because there are major decisions taken by the referee.
At present all the club stadiums competing in the Premier League are already installed VAR, and the Premier League has conducted training and testing to ensure VAR is ready for use.
