Gilas Pilipinas head coach Yeng Guiao is still hopeful that Fil-Am guard Jordan Clarkson will be allowed to play locally at the FIBA World Cup.
"If he himself, not losing hope, we should also not lose hope," Guiao said.
Clarkson recalls his commitment to play for the Philippines in international competitions this weekend.
"I'm just standing ready, working out," said the Cleveland Cavaliers star. “If I get the opportunity, it will happen.” "If not, it is what it is, I'll just suit up for another time."
Guiao also said that there are individuals helping the Philippine Basketball Association (SBP) to get FIBA approval before the World Cup in China.
However, the veteran coach is hoping they will get an answer soon.
“There are efforts, backdoor efforts, but the chances are huge and the chances are pretty low. But we're still hoping, ”he said. "We're asking them to give us a timetable too because it's hard for you to wait for nothing."

Gilas Pilipinas squad should take this as a motivation from Clarkson’s determination. Hopefully, they’d be able to have a good fortune in the upcoming ball games.

Atleast he has tried he's best to get into the team, even if he doesn't get called for international duty. It was worth a shot.
