The USA Trailblazers guard Damian Lillard and San Antonio guard DeMar DeRozan drew back to play in Team USA. They are the seventh and eighth players who have withdrawn to play in the FIBA World Cup.
Lillard's 29-year-old has averaged 25.8 points, career-high of 6.9 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, DeRozan, 29, also has an average of 21.2 points and 6.2 assists and 6.0 rebounds for the first season at Spurs 2018-2019.
The others who had already decline are Philadelphia forward Tobias Harris, Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal, Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis, Portland guard CJ McCollum, and Houston Rockets guards James Harden and Eric Gordon.
Team USA managing director Jerry Colangelo did not worry about losing some high profile players.
It added that many more players are still there for the team. Their training camp begins on August 5 in Las Vegas and the final 12 players will be announced on August 17th.
The tournament will be held from August 31 to September 15. Their first match will be against the Czech Republic which will be on September 1.
