The San Miguel Beermen had just acquired a ticket in the eight-team quarterfinals of the PBA Commissioners cup after defeating Rain or Shine at the Xavier University Gym in Cagayan de Oro City yesterday.

Chris McCullough shared 24 points, 17 rebounds, and four assists to help Beermen become the seventh team in the playoffs. Meanwhile, June Mar Fajardo also shared 23 points and 15 rebounds, while Terrence Romeo scored his injured fingers to end with 13 markers.

McCullough and Fajardo led Beermen and dropped the last 11 points of the team, which included a third win and 5-5 standing.

Rain or Shine entrusted the game to their rookie Javee Mocon and had scored 20 points of which 4-of-6 is from downtown territory. The 18 points and 13 rebounds shared by their import Carl Montgomery still couldn't help the Elasto Painters secure the win, while Rey Nambatac shared 11 markers for the Elasto Painters.
