Aside from the PBA players, Gilas Philippines' 24-man pool will feature in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games some amateur standouts such as Kai Sotto and University of the Philippine stars Kobe Paras and Ricci Rivero.
According to SBP president Al Panlilio, eight amateur players and 16 from the PBA will make up the line-up for the regional showpiece that will be submitted before the deadline on September 30.
However, Panlilio said the list could still be changed because it was formed before Yeng Guiao resigned as head coach of Gilas after the FIBA World Cup.
The new national coach is in the hands of selecting his coaching staff.
Panlilio added that they are now organizing a core group that will oversee the national tea program for the national tea.
Panlilio said the pool also included Ateneo stars Thirdy Ravena and Isaac Go, as well as San Miguel center Christian Standhardinger and Ginebra star guard Stanley Pringle.
In addition, Justin Baltazar of De La Salle, Juan Gomez de Liano of UP, and Dave Idefonso of National University also completed the list of beginners in Gilas.
