Chase Carey the head The Formula One Group owned by Liberty Media is taking the old stuffy set up to another level.
Today it was announced as expected that Silverstone will remain part of the Formula One program for at least 5 more years. Silverstone is the home of Formula One and where most teams have some type of set up. I remember going to one of the teams offices nearby when I was being considered as a PR manager. I regret it now as I should have taken the job but it was the right decision at the time for me to walk away. It was very tempting though.

Zandvoort in Holland is seen as an ideal track due to it's location in Europe and Verstappen having so much popularity.
Next year it is expected that Spain and Germany will lose their races and be replaced with a race in Vietnam and Zandvoort in Holland. This has to be a popular choice with Max Verstappens orange army. The race organizers obviously see this and will take full advantage of the Dutch drivers popularity.

Formula One wants to change its way of thinking and introduce "destination" races to help spice up the sport bringing new viewers to the sport. They are going to bring the sport to the people and that will include pop up circuits in well known cities across the world. This will be great for tourism and an advertisers dream. I can see this bringing massive attention to the sport and really growing in popularity.
Most cities could host this type of event and can vision cities entering a bidding process similar to the Olympics. I would love to travel and combine a Formula One race with a holiday. There are already quite a few street circuits on the calendar already so it does work quite well. Just off the top of my head we have Baku, Monte Carlo (Monaco), Singapore,Montreal,Sochi and Melbourne.
When we look at Monaco with all it's twists and turns it has become a classic track to race yet it is a normal street track and not a racing track. I can see New York , Paris, London, Barcelona hosting these in the future and maybe somewhere like Cape Town with Table Mountain as the back drop. The possibilities are endless and it is great to have some new blood at the helm in Formula One guiding it in a new direction.
Imagine what would that mean for the city budget. It would attract hundreds of not millions of tourists.

Yep I like the sound of these pop up circuits and agree they could be a huge publicity draw for the sport.
I can see it being a law enforcement nightmare but it would be cool to see Paris and London city centre become race tracks for the day. Congestion / pollution charges out the window big time I guess!

Lol. It would be a massive tourism boost for whoever was hosting for sure. If it was going to cost a city $20 million they would definitely make it back in the extra taxes over the three days. Who knows maybe they will drop the price of hosting the event to help grow the sport.

So if those races move to other countries do they just shut down those tracks? Do they build new ones in the other countries? That is pretty crazy. It just seems like a lot of wasted resources and real estate to me.
