The Mets Are Losing It

It is hard to blame the team when the leaders of an organization are going completely bonkers.

To say that frustration is mounting in Flushing is an understatement.

According to multiple reports, Brodie Van Wagenen, the Mets General Manager, berated the manager and coaches in a post game meeting. People also cited that he threw a chair in anger. The core of the issue was that Jacob deGrom pitched 7 strong innings only to see the effort wasted as the bull pen gave up 5 runs to lose the game.

This is an all too common occurrence for this team. They blew saves in 8 games in both May and June. They presently lead the league in that category resulting in being double digit games behind the Atlanta Braves.

From top to bottom, the bull pen has been a mess. Seth Lugo is the best performer this season although he went through a stretch where he coughed up a couple games.

The tension is getting to Callaway also. He managed to get himself tossed from last night's game after both benches were warned. This was a result of Todd Frazier being hit by a pitch and having some words with Jake Arrieta. Callaway was upset when Rosario was hit an inning later and no ejection took place.

This resulted in a tired by the Met manager which ended up with him getting tossed.

With the leadership of the Mets showing their frustration, what is in store for the players. It is easy to be composed when things are going well yet true leadership comes through when events are going against you. Sports is an up and down roller coaster. It is impossible to expect a team to maintain composure and act like "professionals" when management is going off the deep end.

So far, the tenure of Brodie Van Wagenen is a total train wreck. His offseason moves failed miserably so far netting him a disappointing team. The manager he inherited consistently shows how inept he is, repeatedly making the same mistakes.

The team is very close to looking towards 2020 since 2019 is a washout.
