The National League East Getting Hit With InjuriessteemCreated with Sketch.

The National League East has a number of teams in the playoff hunt. Outside the Marlins, every team is still in it.

Atlanta is leading the pack with a 4.5 game lead. This has shrunk as the Washington Nationals are rolling. The Phillies and the Mets are trailing a bit but are still in the Wild Card hunt.

Both those teams are suffering from the injury bug.

Jake Arrieta is going to miss the rest of the season. He is having surgery which will shelve him. This is a tough blow for the Phils since he is counted on as one of their best starters.

The Mets are not getting off much easier.

Breakout left fielder JD Davis is suffering for a quad tweak. He is presently listed as day-to-day. The team hopes he will be back soon but that is not guaranteed.

The bullpen is already depleted in reliable arms. This got worse as Robert Gsellman hit the 10 day DL. He is dealing with tenderness in his elbow. To replace him on the roster, the Mets recalled Walter Lockett.
