Atletico Madrid and Juventus played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday in the Champions League.

The game started off sluggishly and both teams began in circumspect fashion. However, the game sparked to life in the second half after Juan Cuadrado opened the scoring for Juventus in the 48th minute courtesy an unstoppable left-footed shot.

The visitors doubled their advantage 17 minutes later when Blaise Matuidi powerfully headed past Jan Oblak.

The UEFA Champions League is European club football's blue riband competition. In 28 editions of the tournament, 92 different players from 35 different nations have scored hat-tricks for 47 different clubs.

19-year-old Norwegian Erling Braut Håland became the third-youngest player to score three goals in a Champions League game when he did so for Red Bull Salzburg against Genk.

Mislav Oršić of Croatia soon joined Håland in the select group of players to score Champions League hat-tricks, when the midfielder scored three times for Dinamo Zagreb against Italian debutants Atalanta. It marked the first time in the competition's history, two debutants scored hat-tricks in the same season.

Chelsea and Liverpool never take each other lightly and on Sunday both sides will attempt to put Champions League defeats behind them.

Liverpool's winning start to the season came to an abrupt half in a 2-0 defeat at Napoli, while Chelsea suffered their first home reverse of the season when Valencia won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

It is little over a month since Tammy Abraham's penalty miss handed Liverpool a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory after a 2-2 draw in the UEFA Super Cup in Istanbul, and Frank Lampard will be desperate for revenge now he has settled into his role as head coach.

Lampard is a central figure in the rivalry between Liverpool and Chelsea, having faced the Reds in three Champions League semi-finals and helped the Blues to 15 victories and four draws in the 31 Premier League matches he played against the Anfield club.

But this Liverpool team could eclipse the achievements of any faced by Lampard in his playing career, and the Opta data shows just what Chelsea can expect from Jurgen Klopp's title hopefuls.

No Neymar. No Kylian Mbappe. No problem.

With two first-half goals from Angel Di Maria and a rare late strike from right-back Thomas Meunier, a new-look Paris Saint-Germain missing its headline stars beat a lacklustre Real Madrid 3-0 in the Champions League to go top of Group A in an impressive start to their European campaign on Wednesday.
