Welcome to Week 5. Week 4 was totally bizarre both for these drafts and fantasy in general. Hopefully we see the studs that disappointed return to form. I think this is a good week for these drafts although Position Three is a tough one to work out. Enjoy and good luck this week.

Normally I put the Weekly recap up here, but I changed it up a little bit and slid it to the bottom just so we can get to this week a little bit faster. I did add a chart showing weekly results so you can see that this is a profitable DFS play and I put my money where my mouth is.

Quarterback Rankings

Not much differemce between the top four or five QBs. It's sometimes worth taking a shot on Lamar Jackson or Deshaun Watson to encourage someone to take Dak Prescott who we don't like this week, but it's not a big deal to wait on QB.

Runningbacks

Our rankings mostly align with Draft's, but we're not taking LeVeon Bell anywhere. Not sure why Draft has him ranked so high, but I anticipate most drafters will start pushing him further and further back. We do like David Johnson this week and you can get him quite late.

Wide Receivers/Tight Ends

We're back to the Keenan Allen and Julio Jones Well. We're not too excited about either of the Tampa Bay WRs, but we should be able to fall back on DeAndre Hopkins and/or Michael Thomas. Zach Ertz is our desperation play.

Notice that DeAndre Hopkins and Michael Thomas are pretty much interchangeable. I slightly prefer Hopkins though.

Position 1

It's Christian McCaffrey and then we're pretty much taking what the draft gives us. It's hard to have a dominant team from the First Position, but we'll consistently have the best team almost no matter how the draft goes.

Different strategy with almost identical results:

Dream scenario:
Pos 1 3.jpg

Be careful assuming David Johnson and Michael Thomas will be available late. I did three drafts and there was one where they both fell to me(love that lineup). I also saw David Johnson go 2.2(second pick of the second round). It's one of those things where you need people to take QBs early and/or a random player or two to go fairly high (LeVeon Bell, Austin Ekeler Marquise Brown, etc).

Position Two

This is easily my favorite position this week.
Pos 2 1.jpg

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Team 3 go RB-RB with their first two picks. I wouldn't be shocked to see them go Dalvin Cook/Ezekiel Elliott, but it doesn't change much for us in Position Two.

Position 3

Position Three is a problem. No matter what we do, I don't think we can make this thing anymore that a three-way tie heading into the week unless someone does something weird with one of their first two picks.

This is probably our best line even if it is a bit unconventional:

Week 4 Recap

Let's take a look at the results so far:

WeekEntry FeesWinningsWeekly NetYTD
Week 2$10$13.50$3.50$3.50
Week 3$50$81$31$34.50
Week 4$20$13.50-$7.50$27

I knew last week probably wasn't going to be great going in. There wasn't a whole lot of divergence between our ranks and Draft ranks. I also wasn't to excited about Keenan Allen(7.3 points) and Julio Jones(7.3 pts) who, despite what my gut said, were the top targets at WR(Not that it mattered because none of the top WR/TEs did much of anything).

Austin Ekeler(26.7 pts) and Christian McCaffrey(28.9 pts) did their thing, but they were drafted #1 and #2 overall in most drafts anyways. What really killed us was our other targets in Dalvin Cook(16 pts), Odell Beckham Jr.(3 pts), and our fall back QB Russell Wilson(14.3 pts). 16 points for Cook isn't really bad, but drafting him probably meant other teams drafted Leonard Fournette(25.5 pts), Nick Chubb(37.8 pts), or David Johnson(17.9 pts).

My best team was my least favorite heading into the week. I started with Allen and Julio from the third spot and skipped RB. I took Lamar Jackson(26.48) early while my opponents drafted Patrick Mahomes (18.0 pts) and the aforementioned Wilson at QB. I punted RB, but I ended up with Chubb and Johnson which obviously worked out. The 96.78 pts this team was actually the highest winning total from any of the four drafts.
