It is estimated that up to 18,000 runners will be given the green light on the main streets of the Cebu City during the 2019 Milo Marathon Cebu Regional Qualifiers slated for Sept. 29.
This is what head organizer Ricky Ballesteros revealed in an interview with Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.
The best runners in the Cebu and surrounding areas are expected to lift their knees in the 21-kilometer race which is one of 10 regional qualifying legs for the national finals.
Other fitness enthusiasts will compete in the 10K and 5K categories.
Runners entering the qualifying time will be given the chance to race in the national finals scheduled for January next year.
Traditionally, the national finals were supposed to be held in the first week of December but this time it has increased by hosting the Southeast Asian (Sea) Games beginning on November 30th.
The remaining qualifying legs are scheduled for October 6 in Iloilo City, October 13 in General Santos City, October 20 in Davao City and November 17 in Cagayan de Oro City.
The final day of registration for the Cebu leg is set for September 25 at the Philippine Sports Commission office inside the Cebu City Sports Center.
Registration costs P1,000 for 21, P900 for 10K while P110 for students and P160 for adults for 5K and 3K.
Participants in the 21K will require a fit-to-run medical certificate during registration.
