It was an intense match yesterday when Manchester United hosted Liverpool at Old Trafford. Many pundits thought it would be an easy ride for Liverpool, considering Manchester United poor form lately.

The match started with Liverpool having much passes but Manchester United were more dangerous upfront at any given opportunity.

While the absence of 'Mo Salah' was noticed as Mane hardly had any real impact on the pitch, the United team showed they could be dangerous in an important match.

Surprisingly, it was United who were upfront with a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute of the first half. Origi was apparently brought down on the build-up to the goal but the VAR ruled the incident as okay.

This made Klopp furious as he was seen on many occasion speaking with this assistant referee.

This has made some people questioned the credibility of the VAR but referee chiefs have explained why Rashford's goal was not disallowed by VAR.

The PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) has explained why the goal was allowed.

Firstly, the on-field referee didn’t think it was a foul and VAR checked/decided that it wasn’t a clear and obvious error to not award the foul," the PGMOL told Sky Sports.

Secondly, VAR isn’t re-refereeing matches - there is contact but VAR was comfortable it wasn’t enough to disallow the goal.

Liverpool thought they had an equalizer when Sadio Mane fired home in the box but VAR picked up a handball from his effort.

Liverpool eventually equalized as super-sub Adam Lallana poked home at the far post from a cross five minutes from time.

The draw ended Liverpool's consecutive Premier League victories run, one short of Manchester City's record 18.

Whatever. I'm glad Manchester United were able to take a point from an in-form team, the current leaders of the league.
